Great Peruvian Food in the Valley

Not many people are aware of it, but Peru has one of the world’s great cuisines, drawing inspiration and ingredients from the sea, the mountains and the jungle.

Such treats as the tamal Peruano wrapped in banana leaf, Peruvian ceviche and papas a la Huancaina, the national potato dish smothered with Peruvian cheese and the native aji chile.

There are four Peruvian restaurants in the Valley:

El Farol, at 5534 E. Thomas Road, Phoenix

Rincon Peruano, at 5925 W. Olive Ave. Glendale, and 120 S. Alma School Road in Mesa

And the brand new Contigo Peru,

1245 W. Guadalupe Road (at Alma School), Mesa
